It's not NEAR as bad as sciencewhiz makes it out to be. This has some really nice drum IDM/DnB ideas in it, but it gets loud and clips rather frequently. I understand that this is one, if not the, first track you've made in ACID, so this is good for a first.
You'll get better over time. ^^

Yes! Very nice. Introduction is great, really, nothing more to say. Variations here and there are nice. There's massive Reverb on this song, wow. Sometimes reverb can stack up and create "leftover" frequencies in transitions that are undesirable. The ascending blips sort-of repeat throughout the whole song, even during the breakdown, which I'm sure was intentional, but it becomes a teensy bit annoying after a bit. The synth at 2:49 in the breakdown has much much too much reverb! xD Sounds like you added some predelay to it... hmm... When the melody finally comes in during the 5th minute, it's fantastic, really, I would kind-of broaden the synth there a little bit because it sounds a little thin (which, I have problems with too.) Outro is good, nice and trance-like. Blips still going though. =P This was a nice refreshing listen to hear at NG, good job. :3
Author's Response:
Yep, I liked the introduction too - I made a looping version for someone who wanted to use this song in a flash game (which is on NG right now), and it accidentally (don't know how that happened) had a better intro than this original version. XD
There definitely was a lot of reverb in this song, I didn't think it was that bad, but I can see where you're coming from. ;) Same goes for what you call the ascending blips, which are basically a high-pitched sine wave synth. And for the synth at 2:49, which had a weird reverb - it would be strong for a split second, and then fades out, fast. :P
I thought the lead synth was fine, I can see why you would want to "broaden" it, but as is, I think it fits the song perfectly. ;) Oh well. And I liked the outro too. :D
Thanks for the review, glad you liked it! :D

My mix sucked compared to this. =P You nail everything spot on, especially the chords man, that takes massive ear skill. The delay effects were great, and the brassy synth sounds just like the one from the game. Many kudos for mixing one of my all-time favorite songs! ^_^
Author's Response:
this was one of the easiest DKC2 songs so i had ta do it. and yeah it takes alotta ear skill to do any kinda remix from scratch...and yes every remix i've ever made was from scratch..no midis or samples. oh and if you havent, you should check out the aquatic ambience remix from DKC1. that was one of my best remixes. ^_^v

Korg; very cool. I like the cosmic sound (as said before.) Those cool pads are neat. I like the chords in this song as well. Some parts can get a bit loud and almost clip, but it's not too bad. Good minor/major switching in the chord progression. Whoah, some of those chords rock! Those drums are REALLY verbed, cool. Well I like this song; keep it up. ^^

Good work with the melody. I like how things are EQed well and you don't have any major clipping issues. Pretty generic stuff, I'd say. One of the biggest issues I found is the length... you would do best making it about at least 3:00. Really nice stuff here though.

I'd say this sounds slightly SGX-reminiscent. Good melodic progression in the song. Some interesting automation things going on. Nice verb with the percussion haha. That's a cool arp. I think I can hear strings in the bg; bring those out. Percussive builds are ok. So overall, 87/100. And I think the genre should be either Goa or breakbeat, and if you stretch the definition, this could also be Ambient Psy. ;)
Author's Response:
Lawl, I like that word... SGX-reminiscent. Mostly because SGX is amazing.
<333 Arc forever, thanks. :D

Why does this have such a low rating? This is one of the few really good loops I've heard in quite a while.
You know what did it? The piano. It's amazing. I'm gonna assume based on your name and the chords in this loop that you know lots about theory. I love complex chords/chord progressions.
And yes, I do think that this would make a good puzzle game bg loop. =P
PS thanks for reviewing some of my songs. You were a lot of help!
Author's Response:
hey thanks for those nice comments :D
i guess the score is low(Although i thought it was a decent score) because it got 0 bombed, like most everyone's submissions. but yeah not overalll a bad score IMO.
glad you liked the piano progression, ive dabbled with some music theory, took a class on it when I was in high school :) (my screename is actually a dry music theory joke)
again, thanks a lot for the comments and good score! and you're welcome, i enjoy reviewing other people's stuff, hit me up anytime if you want another review :D

One thing I noticed about this song, and I must point it out, is that it sounds very heavily influenced by Donkey Kong Country. =P
Not that that's a bad thing at all. I like your variation of frequencies. The saw bass pitch bend at around 2:05 is nice. One thing I do wish though, is that we could hear the same melody as we did in the beginning of the song (specifically :09-:44) to make the song in A-B-A format. (Perhaps it was the file size restriction?
Good job in general. I know this is fairly old though, but still, good job. =P
